“Ambit of Faith" is currently installed in Florida for Sculpture
Key West 2010. The images below show different views of the piece. This piece is 9' tall and 6' long by 4' wide and made of
steel, paper, fiberglass and resin. The show is open through April 16, 2010 .
This sculpture was inspired in part by my experience installing
Emancipate I in last year's Sculpture Key West show. I was terrified of heights yet found myself perched at
least 20 feet in the air above the rocks on the ocean's end. Overcoming my fears, the sharp edges of the rocks became my daily
visual reference. I create my work based
on the emotions and memories I experience in the course of my life and try and evoke those through the form, space and volume
of my work. I titled this piece "Ambit of Faith" for me it is the boundary or edge of faith. As you move and walk
around the piece it moves and changes. The different light throughout the day reflects on its surface bringing attention
to the dynamics of the form. Our lives are
always changing, and so our our experiences, emotions, perceptions and responses. Sometimes all we have to hold onto is the
confident belief that our inner truth will guide us along - even when there is no logical reasoning or evidence to support
the journey.
